There are two main types of bamboo: running bamboo and clumping bamboo. Running bamboo spreads by underground rhizomes and can be managed with barriers or mowing. Clumping bamboo stays in a tight clump and expands slowly. Running varieties generally grow larger and tolerate colder winters, while clumping varieties are easier to contain. Currently the only type of bamboo we offer is of the running variety.
